Enough for being civil

My chance at jury duty came to an abrupt and welcome end yesterday afternoon when they dismissed us all. Fine with me, it was a gorgeous day outside and the last place in the world I wanted to be was sitting in a stuffy room with a bunch of my fellow Queens residents waiting to get put on a trial. It was pretty boring, although I was highly entertained by the woman who got into a screaming fight with the court officer when she got reprimanded for not being there on time. Imagine this in a really really thick NY accent:

"You're gonna penalize me for going to the bathroom???"
"Ma'am."
"No! I don't believe this!! I was in the bathroom!!"
"For 45 minutes ma'am?"
"This is ridiculous!"
"You're telling me. Now go sit down and wait until we call you."

I did get a lot of cross stitch work done. I couldn't do any writing because so many people were talking and I was really distracted by the jury room TV that was tuned to reruns of Step by Step and Full House. I felt like I was serving jury duty in 1992.

7 hours of work and now I don't have to do it again for 6 years!!! Whoohoo.

Now back to my real work - I hope to slip outside for a bit to enjoy this fantastic spring weather that is only about 3 months overdue.

You know it doesn't even have to be a NY accent to be funny!

Spring!?!?! It's 80 degrees here in DC. I was afraid we were going to jump straight from winter to summer, but it IS supposed to rain again this week!
