The Taste of a Slug???

Last night a friend of mine told me that he thought my taste in men was that "of a slug". Hmm. Interesting premise there guy. I didn't know that slugs had a particular interest in dating men. It's news to me to hear that girl slugs (maybe the dude slugs too) sit around at brunch analyzing their latest run in with the cute guy from next door.

"I think he was flirting with me!'

"What? Are you sure? I heard he was gay."

The point of my friend's statement was not to indicate that he thinks I could be killed with a teaspoon of salt or can single handidly destroy a crop of potatoes. I believe his point was that I deserve better than the past couple of idiots I've gone out with (all due respect of course). And I agree. I do deserve a good guy who respects me and makes me laugh and won't, say, come over to my house and eat a home cooked meal without telling me he's already dating someone else.

This is why it's good to have male friends - they will tell you to your face that you're being an idiot. Girl friends will do that, but it takes a brunch, a 3 hour shoe shopping session and 18 phone calls. I mean, using the phrase "taste of a slug" isn't exactly the NICEST way to go about it - but you can't blame the guy. I mean, when it comes down to it, I'm sure he's actually just pissed that I don't want to sleep with him.

But what do I know, I'm just a slug. And anyway I heard he was gay.
