According to my Simpsons Trivia Calendar, March 1 marks the first day of Women's History Month. (It also is my sister's birthday. Happy Birthday Christina! Aren't you glad that instead of wasting money on a gift, that I decided to be really cheap and just mention you in passing in my blog!?)
Anyway in honor of this very important non-Hallmark holiday, I thought I would use this time to pay tribute to the ten women in history who have most impacted my life.
1. Miss Piggy: For teaching us that it's okay to be crazy and dramatic, and that if you kiss enough frogs, eventually you will find your prince.
2. Marge Simpson: I know, using two fictional characters in a row as role models is grasping at straws, but Marge teaches us that love of your family can get you through anything. And that you can have the exact same hair style and dress for 16 years and still have your husband think you're hot.
3. My mom: Ahhh, so sweet!! Moms are cool. Especially when they don't think their daughters are insane for quitting their jobs.
4. My sister: Come on, it's her birthday. It'd be rude NOT to put her on this list. Plus she let me get the good bridesmaid dress I'd been hoping for. It's okay I ordered it in dark purple right ??? :)
5. Betsy Ross: She's uber cool because she teaches us that knowing how to do needlepoint and sew is a really good thing.
6. Sophia Coppola as the third woman in history to be nominated for a Best Director Academy Award, and for being the winner of the Acadamy Award in 2004 for Best Screenplay, Ms. Coppola is my role model. Someday, that'll be me. Only with bigger boobs.
7. Ellen Degeneres teaches me that you can be a funny and very successful comic without getting dirty or rude. I'd love to have her career, without the liking chicks part. (Much to the disappointment of Shevy.)
8. Eleanor Roosevelt: Just because your husband is the most powerful and popular man in the country doesn't mean you can't have your own successful life.
9. Mary, Jesus' mom: Can't have been an easy task to be Mary. Everyone thinking you're a skank, and then being responsible for raising God's son. But I think she did an awsesome job.
10. Any woman who doesn't put up with crap: A shout out to all the ladies who don't let men use them, abuse them, or other wise make us feel like crap. I admire any chick who values herself and won't let herself be mistreated by anyone, man OR woman!
So there you go...the top ten ladies. Not in any kind of order - I'm seriously jet lagged. If you want order, wait until my blog next week when I'm fully recovered.
