Hail to the office manager

Holy crap what a week. On Wednesday I got told at my job that on Friday we would be hosting a speaker (Al Gore!) and 120 guests. As office manager I had to make sure the room was set up, that the staff was organized and our facility was ready for a visit and event of that size. Oh yeah, we also had to link up on video phone 9 different locations so our staff in all the regional offices could see it as well. So much could have gone wrong (like the part where our conference room really only fits 60 people and we had to figure out how to get a 120 in there?) but when you work as part of a good team you can make the impossible happen. I was so stressed out for most of the week and am so glad it's all over. And can I just mention that in the time that my boss has been off on paternity leave, I've had to deal with a transit strike and a massively complicated event!!! I'm ready for him to come back just so I can go back to doing my regular quiet, boring job!

The first picture above is Al and Environmental Defense's presidend Fred Krupp. Then Al talking to Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman as my old boss Paula looks on. I don't know what I was more excited about...Joanne Woodward and Paul Newman being there or Al!

So as you can imagine I was exhausted at the end of the night and glad it's all over. I wasn't too exhausted though - my friend Harold took me out for dinner for a belated birthday celebration and has offered to host a small party for me at his apartment. Remember that nice sunrise view from a few weeks ago? That's the view I'll have at the party!! And here I was, not really wanting to celebrate this year but how can I turn that down!?
