It's beginning to look a lot like...oh forget it. Yes, 3 days before Christmas, a time of joy, happiness and being with your family. It SHOULD NOT be day 3 of a transit strike, a time of cold, waking up at 4am to get to work on time and being with 9 million other people just trying to get to work. There is a glimmer of hope right now as both sides are reportedly back at the negotiating table. I'd like to negotiate my foot into the striker's face if this continues much longer. And I've been lucky - I got a ride to work the one day I needed to go in, and I live a walkable distance when I have to walk. I was telling my friend Shevy that I had "only" taken 2 hours to get home Tuesday night. He said "I can't believe you actually used the word only."
There's a good possibility I'll be walking into the city tonight again for my last acting class. Which we BETTER freakin' have because otherwise this whole entire week will have been a complete waste. I post poned my flight home so I could go to class, and I will be pretty annoyed if we end up getting cancelled because a few thousand subway and bus drivers decided they couldn't live with having to pay 1% of their salary into a pension plan that they were going to be using when they retired at AGE 55. They make more $$ than teachers, nurses, and most cops, and yet they feel THEY are being mistreated. As someone who spent this year with no salary, benefits or pension, let me tell you, this is a RIDICULOUSLY good offer. If this thing doesn't end today my prediction is that it goes through the weekend. On the bright side, I'll be home in Denver so I won't have to deal with it.
Happy Strike Day 3 people.
