Sometimes things happen for a reason

It's been a crazy couple of days. For most of the past month I have patiently been waiting to hear about a job I interviewed for back in early June. It sounded great - fantastic benefits, great salary, interesting work, etc. And from how my interviews were going I pretty much thought I had this thing locked down.

WRONG.

I got a call last night from the recruiter I'd been working with at my agency, who a) told me the company had picked another candidate and b) that yesterday was her last day in the office. Um...WHAT!? No! You can't get a new job before I do sister!!! Get your ass back here and find me work!!

I was sort of put off by all this - I had specifically waited on making decisions about accepting some long term temp assignments because I thought I would get this job. On one hand I feel like I majorly wasted my time, on the other hand, I'm glad. Having closure on the permanent gig allows me to be flexible for temp work and acting.

I think sometimes things happen for a reason. Is it any coincidence that in the same day that I got the boot for the job, I get 2 auditions?? One for the beer commercial I told you about yesterday (it went well, won't know until next week if I got it our not, but I had fun.) THEN I got a call to come in and read for the lead (GASP!) on a play about King Arthur. I have to brush up my British accent but I am super psyched about this. I really want to get into theatre work, and you know how I feel about British accents!!

So although I am disapointed about my continued lack of income, I think this is the way it's supposed to be. And that's bloody brilliant.
