I don't know how many New Yorkers will agree with me on this one, but I am RELIEVED that we got passed over by the IOC to host the 2012 Olympics. I cannot imagine what this town would be like if we were expected to host. Not that we couldn't have, I just don't think the middle of Manhattan (and Queens, and Jersey, and Connecticut) are really good places to hold the Games. There's already like 8 billion** people riding the 7 train every day, let's add another 12 gazillion for 3 weeks okay? (**Actual population numbers may differ...although by 2012, maybe not.)
And all the talk about building stadiums and housing for the athletes...do we really need all that? When there's homelessness and education and environmental issues to face in this city, do the Jets or the Mets or the Pets or whoever really need billion dollar stadiums for rich people to use after the Olympics are over? I was freaking out because they were planning on building the Olympic Village right in my neighborhood. Listen, my neighbors are Irish, Korean, Indian, Ukranian and African...I already live in an Olympic Village.
Anyway mad props to the Brits for taking this on. They need something to focus on now that Charles is married and Prince William is looking less and less like he's going to marry me. Hey, I offered. Don't say I didn't put it out there.
Stay tuned for information about my television debut on MTV2. That's right...50 Cent's new video "Straight out of South Central...Denver". No seriously, it's not a video. Everyone knows MTV hasn't played music videos since 1992. More information to follow.
