Dream vacation

Okay. If you're reading this blog, please take a moment to remove any sharp object you have near your computer. Or any item you could break. Because you see, I'm about to tell you about a trip I'm taking in 10 days and the fact of the matter is it might rile up some of my readers. And far be it for me brag, but it's pretty exciting. So go ahead, clear your desk. I'll wait.

There's really no good way to say this ("Just tell us already!") so I'm just gonna say it. I'm going on a cruise. A Royal Caribbean Cruise. This one to be precise.

So how does a girl like me get to go on a trip like that? First of all, I get to go because my boss is extremely good to me. And he knows that if he'd said no I would have gone anyway. The other reason is my friend Rob has friends who bail on him at the last minute. And he agrees that I'd be a pretty decent travel buddy. He gets reduced fairs on cruises, and not only is this a vacation I will LOVE, it's also an inexpensive one. We'll fly down to Ft. Lauderdale and meet there. Then we'll get over to the ship and let the vacation begin.

Now I know a lot of you remember earlier posts where I explained that any kind of air travel that I make always results in snow. I realize I am taking a massive risk by flying again. Particularly in March when there's still a chance for freak snow storms. Unfortunately this is a risk I must take. San Juan, St. Maarten, Antigua, St. Thomas and the Bahamas are all waiting for me. And I need to get down there before hurricane season or I'll be caught because of THAT.

I'm so excited I could scream. But it's 6:50 in the morning and I don't want anyone calling the cops (oh, I will have a great story about that tomorrow.) I will be able to get my passport in time (thanks to the joys of passport expediting services) but it was either that or risk being stranded in the Caribbean, unable to get...back...to ...the...States...what was I thinking!!?

Of course this means my summer travel plans have changed because after this I will have negative vacation time. But a trip like this is something that will not come around again, so I'm gonna do it.

Bon voyage!
