Okay, just take my word for it. I spent 5 - FIVE!! - hours at the salon between the coloring and the cut. Yes, it takes time to get gorgeous. Part of the reason for the lengthy time investment was due to the persistent red that has never left my hair since I first got it colored 4 years ago. Red is one of the strongest colors and very hard to lighten, as I wanted to.
First my stylist had to color my hair back to it's natural color (I had forgotten what it was!) and then do the highlights in blonde. That took about 2 hours alone because my hair is so long these days. Then we saw that the blond hadn't really kicked in as strong as we wanted so we tried another few minutes, then a glaze. The problem was my red was still coming through but I gotta tell you, I'm glad it's persistent because my hair is now very blonde with red and my natural dark brown mixed in. And we didn't want to do too much because at some point your hair does start to literally cook, and I worked too hard to get it to the state it's in now for me to have to do something drastic.
Anyway I'm pyched - the salon owner said I looked like Rachel McAdams and Scarlett Johanssen blended together. I don't know if that's entirely accurate, but I'll take the complement.

OOO - I hope I get to see it soon! I think I put a neighbor in shock yesterday when I told her I have NEVER colored my hair. But I really should do something with it; maybe you will inspire me!
