It's hour 7 into "Get Me Home 2006". I checked in to Laguardia this morning and even though there is 2 feet of snow on the ground, the agents thought it was the best idea for me to take my flights from NYC to Chicago and then on to Denver, with a 'brief' stop in Kansas City.
Brilliant idea on paper but what this has mean is that I'm either going to get stuck for the night in Chicago if the Kansas City flight doesn't go, OR I'm going to get stuck in Kansas City and have to spend the night, hoping Denver reopens tomorrow. Which it is expected to do, but how many more hours of airport people watching can i do? It hasn't been bad so far, I've got internet access and food, but I just don't know if I can stomach - literally - days on end in the airports.
The good news is I still have a reservation on hold for me out of Laguardia on Saturday. So if it comes to that I think I can get back to NYC and start again on Saturday when the roads in Denver will be clear.
It just sucks - I'm missing Cynthia's baby shower, which I have all the gifts for and was co-hosting - AND my sister Christina are stuck until after I was planning on leaving Denver! All very sad, but in the 30 years I've been flying, this is the first time I've dealt with this. So really, can I complain too much?
Stay tuned for postings tomorrow AM when I'll be reporting live from...??????
