What Matters

Hi everyone, yes I'm still around. Yes we are still engaged. Yes we are still having a wedding. But with all the upheaval (or can I say...down heaval?) in the economy a daunting task is made twice as difficult. Jobs aren't a sure thing any more. SAVINGS aren't even a sure thing anymore. If planning a wedding was a challenge before how even more challenging is it now. My FH and I are seriously watching what's happening with the economy and considering how that will affect our wedding day - and beyond. We've post-poned making a final decision about the honeymoon. 6 months ago a trip to Fiji seemed well within our means. Today we're not so sure. Even $120 bridesmaid dresses seems like a lot to ask of our family and friends. The church is already paid for and we're both committed to keeping our photographer. Oh, and I'm definitely keeping my dress! But basically every other detail is up in the air until we get a better sense of what is happening. I'll be looking to do a lot more DIY projects. And possibly changing our reception venue to the home of a local family member. There's lots of change in the world, but one thing won't change: Whether FH and I have a grand reception at our favorite restaurant, or a smaller affair at home, we'll still be married. And that's what matters.
