Is it weird that THIS is what got me excited about the wedding?

My FH and I met with a florist last week. It was one of those "we should do this while we both have the day off kind of things". We're a bit early to seriously be having flower discussions - you typically don't pick your florist until 8-6 prior to the wedding. Not a year in advance. But in trying to refine my budget I knew we had to get a real estimate of what flowers would cost us, and if there would be any savings in trying to do it myself.

To my delight I think I might be able to afford having someone else do the flowers, instead of me being up to 4am crying because I can't get boutineers wrapped just right.

We met with Morgan, a really cool event planner/florist at Robertson's Flowers, a local place that has been doing flowers for nearly 81 years in the Philadelphia area. We went to meet to see what kind of flowers are in season and what we should be budgeting. The woman was super cool and also would be our Day of Coordinator at the reception & ceremony (this has been a MAJOR conflict for me knowing we kind of needed someone outside of the family to play this role and not having the budget for it.) She listened to our ideas and gave us suggestions. I was disapointed that some of my favorite flowers (rununculus) will not be in season in October, and surprised that I might be able to afford orchids. The FH had some surprises for me too - his ideas were much more grand for the reception than I'd been thinking - but I want the wedding to be just as much his as mine so I didn't protest.

The protest of course will later, don't worry - no way in hell am I paying $200 a centerpiece for the reception.

Morgan got the quote back to me super quick and while it did include $200 a centerpiece, it also leaves us TONS of room for scaling back and simplifying. There's a good chance we can do the flowers for around $2,000 and for Center City Philadelphia, that's about what I was counting on. I can't wait to see how creative we can get without going loony on price, and I can't WAIT to see my bouquet. The images below are a collage of what we came up with for me. And now I'm officially excited about this wedding.
