Home sweet home?

Ever since I moved to Philadelphia, Adam and I have known that our apartment was not going to be permanent. it was great for a bachelor, and honestly fine for 2 people...but not for 2 people, 3 cats and a lot of stuff. Sure, I sold most of my belongings, and Adam has downsized too, but at some point you'd like a space that is just yours. I do anyway.

I haven't written on my own computer in 2 months - there's no room for me to set up my own writing area. If I want to do any jewelry making or card making, I have to take out what I need then put it all back the second I'm done with it or it's either in our way, or the cats make it their personal playground. Even right now I'm standing with the laptop propped on the stove because Adam's using his desk. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but you get the point.

So this week we started looking at places in our current building. We both like it and it was worth it to check it out, and boy oh boy did we find it. A 2 bedroom - oh my GOD I can have an office!! But even better than the newly renovated kitchen and the 2nd bathroom, there is a patio. And garden space. When Adam and I walked out there I nearly cried. This is my dream, to be married, have room to write, make crafts to sell, and to have a quiet, beautiful outdoor space to read, garden, or just enjoy the weekend. I had fantasies of the groomsmen coming over for scotch and cigars, or having my bridesmaids over for brunch. This of course requires my bridesmaids to be in the same zipcode at the same time, and that's not likely to happen before October 10, but one dream at a time right?

Anyway we'll see if we can come up with the security deposit and how having a higher rent will hit us. But whatever sacrifices it brings, I think it will be worth it.

I better go now, it's time to cook dinner.
