Memorial Day...one of my favorite weekends (because it means not having to work on Monday) but also for a more serious reason. It's a day when we remember the members of the armed services who have made it possible for us to live and work in the US and enjoy our freedom.
In honor of this day, I'd like to suggest you check out Soldiers' Angels. This is is a great organization I have been involved in for nearly a year. You commit to writing to a soldier in Iraq once a week. I like it because it's something tangible I can do to support the soldiers, whether or not I support the war has little to do with the fact that these people need our prayers and support. They are there doing their job whether we agree with it or not.
Enjoy the day everyone, and don't forget what it is we're celebrating. Not picnics, not parades, not one less work day in the week.
