Yesterday was a big day of life changing moments.
In one day I started the loonnnng promise of changing my last name, effectively cleared off 2 years of wedding clutter from my desk and most importantly, checked out every cookbook in the library that has to do with diabetes. Welcome to married life.
So the name change debacle/project. I'm married now so I'd like to officially be Mrs. Erdosy. Now I know why many of my friends never really did this officially after their weddings. I spent an hour at the Social Security office, which in hindsight was fairly good. Some of you may know Gayle is not my first name, but I've never gone by my REAL first name. So I figured while we were doing this name change thing I could just drop name 1, and go by Gayle Crispin Erdosy. No such luck. Apparently only a court order can eliminate the first name. So I had to officially drop Crispin. And it makes me sort of sad. Of course you'll only see this on my passport, license, SS card, pay check, etc. All the stuff that matters like Facebook and book deals will still rock the G of the C to the E-R-D-O-S-Y. Hmm. Wish that had ended with an eeee sound.
Anyway the next big to do was the MASSIVE organization kung fu I did on my desk. Side note, Kung Fu Organization will ber a kick ass book title. DIBS!!! I've been on this massive organization streak both at work and home lately and hope it will help me write more than I have in the past um - 2 years. It's a bit tough to write when you can't find the freakin' laptop on the desk. If you're stuck in a rut creativily or work wise I highly recommend getting your org on and set up a system. I'll try to write more about what I do in the coming months - a good place to start is checking out "Getting Things Done".
The last item has been a bit more emotional than I'd like to let on. Found out this past week the Husband is type 1 diabetic. It runs in his family so it's not a huge shock, but it's been tough adapting life to the frequent blood sugar tests, the middle of the night wake up to get something sugary NOW, etc. I'm learning all about what he needs, what foods to keep in the house, etc. Trying to be a good wife but admittedly scared. We'll process this all in the coming months too.
So that brings us up to speed. In case you haven't noticed this will no longer be a wedding planning blog - um, was it ever - but more back to the original mission of my writing. To talk about my life and be funny when I can.
Thanks for reading this far - y'all come back now ya hear?
