I picked up my renewal lease yesterday at the post office. I would have received it at home if the postman had done his job and delivered it to me. Instead he just left one of those "you weren't home to receive this delivery so now you have to come to the post office which is only open from 9-4pm every day to pick it up" notices. Despite the fact that not only was I home at the time the delivery was "attempted", I held the door for the guy to get into the building! Agggh. Cut to 3 weeks later when I was actually able to get in to pick up the delivery. Aggggggrrrraaaavvvaaaattttion.
But it was all worth it because my rent will only be going up 100 bucks in July to cover the 2 year lease I've been signing since I moved in. This is awesome. For some reason I had it in my head that rent would be going up 9,000% (even though we're rent stabilized and it can only go up so much every time I renew). You can imagine my relief. This coupled with the raise I got , I will not only be able to afford rent and pay off my remaining debts so hopefully the next time I need to renew I can actually think about BUYING, but I might even be able to afford living alone if for some reason Tatiana decides to move out! Not that I'm anticipating that, and hope she doesn't, but if the need comes up, I'm not stranded with an apartment I can't afford. Very very very relieving!
I'm in Hartford, CT this weekend on a long overdue visit with my college roommate Shannon. A week ago I was on a cruise ship. Now? I'm wearing a sweater and shivering in the 40 degree wintry blast we just got here. This is definitely pay backs for the cruise.
